Rue des Carmes flat - Paris V
This 90 square meters flat was fully renovated at the beginning of 2000; the kitchen became the master bedroom, a mezzanine was created in the children’s room in order to separate the sleeping space from the play and school work space. A lot of custom fittings were installed to avoid loss of space.
CoRRIDOR
Custom fitting installed in the large corridor leading to the master bedroom. Each centimeter was used, here for the administrative and all books of the family.
DEtail
Chrome hanger bar, clothes’ support, fixed on a a mineral coated wall from Signature Murale.
ANNEXE
View on the washbasin & linen room little space organized near the master bedroom; not having enough space to create a real bathroom, it allows parents to have a useful watering place.
bedroom
View on the dressing table with mirrors and the bed end, custom designed to allow breakfast in bed when slid towards the bedhead.
BED
Imagined again especially for the room, with a padded bedside made with a anti-stain fabric and custom made built-in readers.
DRESSING
Two dressing areas were organized behind the bed, separated from the bedroom by a curtain, emphasizing the cozy aspect of the space.
MEZZANINE
in the children’s bedroom, even if the ceiling was not very high, a mezzanine for beds and storages was installed above the bathroom, made lower, next to the bedroom.
STORAGES
Many storages allowed to delimit different little spaces for each child , as well as a niche for the piano. A gray wood floor with large boards from Chêne de l’Est was chosen.
OCCULTATION
Metal lacquered blinds were installed on the large window giving an interesting atmosphere when the bedroom is sunny; heavy blackout curtains were added to allow complete black when sleeping.
DINING-ROOM SPACE
In an angle of the large main room, a long and pure table was installed, together with famous designer, Philippe Starck, chairs and a Flos fixture, XL version of the more known version for desks.
LIVING-ROOM
A large corner sofa, with day bed, from B&B Italia was chosen; it separate the reception and TV place from the dining-room one.
MINERAL WALL COATINGS
Different kinds of mineral coatings were a applied on walls of the flat, with various finishes: smooth, rough, pearly and metalized; they give exclusive touches of the spaces. On this photo, one can also see the leather long bench designed for the dining table.
